New Zealands National
Qualifications Framework
NCEA (National Certificate of Educational
Achievement) is New Zealand's national qualification for senior
secondary students. NCEA is part of the National Qualifications
Framework (NQF).
NCEA level 1 replaced School Certificate in 2002. Level 2 was
introduced in 2003 and level 3 in 2004,
replacing University Bursaries. NCEA provides the pathway to tertiary
education and workplace training.
Today secondary schools can also offer a wide range of specialised
National Certificates
that may be a starting point for further study or may simply broaden
general education.
Senior students at Sacred Heart Girls College are offered
both achievement and
competency based unit standards on the NQF.
